Transmission: (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/about/transmission.html)
- Coughing and sneezing without covering the mouth can disperse droplets into the air, spreading the virus.
- Touching or shaking hands with a person that has the virus can pass the virus from one person to another.
- Making contact with a surface or object that has the virus and then touching your nose, eyes, or mouth.
- On rare occasions, a coronavirus may spread through contact with feces.
- New data shows virus can persist through plumbing and water supply sources. Drinking water can be affected!!
Most Effected: While we still need to learn more about how 2019-nCoV affects people, thus far, older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as diabetes and heart disease) appear to be more at risk of developing severe disease.
Symptoms:
- sneezing
- a runny nose
- fatigue
- a cough
- in rare cases, fever
- a sore throat
- exacerbated asthma
Steps to help reduce the risk of exposure and infection:
- Follow the CDC’s immunization guidelines, including everyone 6 months and older getting the flu shot each season.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
HUGE Preventative step - Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. HUGE Preventative step
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- If you are sick and decide to wear a face mask, remove it from the ear straps, not the front of the mask (where there are germs)
- Rest and avoid overexertion.
- Drink enough water.
- Avoid smoking and smoky areas.
- Take acetaminophen, ibuprofen or naproxen to reduce pain and fever.
- Use a clean humidifier or cool mist vaporizer.
Questions:
- Can Dr. George Prescribe Tamiflu to help prevent contraction of the Corona Virus. Would it help?
